Voodoo Burger is a vegan burger restaurant started by three friends down in Mexico City. The restaurant has made a name for themselves by selling black burgers and green milkshakes.
Project Needs:
- Primary Logo
- Product Naming
- Menu Card
- Screen Display for the Menu
- Packaging Design
The Sketches
The first part of the logo development stage starts with hand sketches. For this project, we played around with a number of different ideas, but ultimately landed on the snake burger. This concept tied the “voodoo” and the “black burger” together, allowing us to use the snake’s body to represent the patty of the burger. We also began brainstorming other brand elements during this phase (e.g. the voodoo doll illustration).
The Branding: Primary Logo
Additions: Custom Illustrations and Stickers
To add more complexity and versatility to the brand, we developed a few additional custom illustrations and stickers/badges. These were used on the packaging and menu design as well as SWAG products.
The Menu Design and Product Naming
For the menu design, we incorporated all of the brand illustrations/stickers as well as used the snake from the logo to create a border.
The team at Voodoo Burger also wanted help with their menu items. They had a selection of burgers and shakes that all needed brand naming.
We chose to lean into the “voodoo” theme and selected names like: “The Rise and Shrine” (a play on a burger royal) and “The Lucky Charm” (their signature green milkshake). These kept the brand cohesive, while adding a playful twist to an otherwise traditional burger menu.
The Package Design
We wanted to pull the same elements from the rest of the branding into the packaging, The snake Illustration worked as a perfect wrap for the boxes, paired with the “Burgers Made Vegan” badge. To keep with the “voodoo” and “spooky” theme, we had the illustrative part of the logo hidden by the wrap. This allows a fun reveal of the full logo when the customer unwraps their burger.
